Whorls

Big whorls have little whorls
That feed on their velocity,
And little whorls have lesser whorls
And so on to viscosity.
- Lewis F. Richardson
Lewis Richardson was apparently a physicist "who was the first to apply mathematical techniques to predict the weather accurately," or so says this web site.
My "Whorls" series is not necessarily about the weather.
During my "Whorls" period, I sought freedom from the constraints and conventions of my past media. I applied ink to paper. With just one instrument, a pen, new forms appeared directly from imagination. Forms begat more forms, which in turn begat worlds in 13 1/4" x 10 1/2".
Once the first whorl of ink was put to paper, the momentum continued through several pads of quality paper. These are the first two of the series.
